Founded in 2018 by local business and faith leaders, Freedom Communities emerged in response to Charlotte's alarming ranking as the worst large U.S. city for economic mobility. The organization is dedicated to disrupting the cycle of intergenerational poverty by providing holistic support to families along the Freedom Drive Corridor.
Freedom Communities serves an average of 90 women and their 225 children annually through the innovative Moms Moving Forward program. This initiative combines parent and child interventions to foster upward mobility and family stability, while also addressing critical issues in housing, education, and health.
