Our Story
The Franklin County Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) was established to address the critical need for support among those bereaved by suicide. Founded in 1998 by Dr. Frank Campbell in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the LOSS team model was developed after recognizing that survivors often suffer in silence for an average of 4.5 years before seeking help. This initiative has since expanded across the country, with the first Ohio team launched in Logan/Champaign County. When activated by the Franklin County Coroner’s office, trained LOSS volunteers provide immediate support and resources to those newly bereaved.

Each year, LOSS serves thousands of suicide loss survivors, offering essential support groups and resources to help them navigate their grief.
