Transforming Lives Through Compassionate Outreach

Since 1995, Franciscan Peacemakers has been a beacon of hope for women engaging in prostitution on the streets of Milwaukee. With a dedicated outreach van, the organization distributes bag lunches and hygiene supplies, fostering trust and building relationships with women facing profound challenges such as poverty, sexual abuse, addiction, and homelessness. Recognizing that traditional recovery programs often fall short, Franciscan Peacemakers established Clare Community in 2014, inspired by the successful model of Thistle Farms in Nashville.

A Holistic Approach to Healing

Clare Community offers a transformative two-year, spiritually-based program that provides rent-free housing while women focus on their recovery. This supportive environment allows participants to develop essential skills, confidence, and a robust network of support. Additionally, the Franciscan Peacemakers Social Enterprise creates meaningful, living-wage employment opportunities for women in Clare Community and other survivors in the Milwaukee area. Through the production of all-natural, handmade bath and body products, these women gain valuable experience in manufacturing, marketing, and leadership.

Advocacy and Education

Education and advocacy are integral to the mission of Franciscan Peacemakers. From the logo-wrapped outreach van to the labels on their products sold at community events, the organization raises awareness about the urgent need to combat human sex trafficking. By connecting women survivors to safe housing, meaningful work, and a healing network, Franciscan Peacemakers is committed to ending sexual exploitation and promoting peace for all.
