Our Story

The Franciscan Center, Inc. was founded in 1989 by Sally Ley and the late Jean Kelly as a homeless shelter and sack lunch program. Inspired by the Secular Franciscan Order established over 800 years ago by St. Francis of Assisi, the organization has evolved to meet the changing needs of the community, relying on a dedicated network of volunteers.

Our Impact

Each year, the Franciscan Center provides over 1,600 turkeys to clients during its annual 'Turkey Tuesday' event. With a network of over 4,300 volunteers contributing more than 9,000 hours annually, the organization demonstrates a strong community impact and support for those in need.
