Our Story
For over 60 years, The Allen School has been a beacon of hope for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Established in 1958, the school began with just 12 students and has grown to serve over 70 children from birth to five years old. Located in the historic Hillcrest area of midtown Little Rock, the dedicated staff combines the expertise of early childhood educators, special education teachers, and therapists to create a nurturing environment that fosters growth and learning.
Impact
Skylar, a remarkable child born with Schizencephaly, began her journey at The Allen School at just six weeks old. Over five years, she received tailored therapies that celebrated her every achievement, no matter how small. Now 12 and a published author of "Sky’s High Dreams," Skylar's story exemplifies the profound impact of the school. Families express deep gratitude for the love, care, and advocacy skills gained during their time at The Allen School, which continue to support their children’s journeys.
