Our Story

The Fralinger String Band, established in 1914 in South Philadelphia, has a rich legacy of musical excellence. Founded by Joseph A. Ferko and sponsored by Dr. John J. Fralinger, the band made its debut in the Philadelphia Mummers' Parade in 1915, showcasing the vibrant culture of the city.

Impact

As a trailblazer in the String Band division, the Fralinger String Band has won numerous awards, including eight consecutive first prizes in the Mummers Parade. The band serves as a goodwill ambassador for Philadelphia, performing across the United States and internationally.
