Our Story

Foundation for Louisiana was established in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Originally known as the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation, the organization was created to support the immediate recovery of Louisiana’s communities. Recognizing that true recovery requires addressing long-standing inequities, FFL has evolved to focus on critical areas such as Criminal Justice Reform, Racial Justice, Climate Justice, Economic Justice, Arts & Culture, Gender Justice, and Philanthropic Leadership. Today, FFL proudly supports freedom work across the state.

Our Impact

With an investment of $60 million in over 260 mission-critical nonprofit organizations, Foundation for Louisiana is dedicated to building a more just Louisiana. The organization employs a three-pronged strategy of investing, building, and transforming to address the inequities faced by marginalized communities.
