Our Story

Founded in 1996 by a passionate group of parents, the Foundation for Inclusive Religious Education (FIRE) was established with a shared vision: to ensure that children with special needs could attend parish schools alongside their siblings and friends. Over the years, through the dedication of parents, a committed board of directors, and countless volunteers, FIRE has granted over $7 million to partner schools in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, Missouri. This funding supports the hiring of special educators and paraprofessionals, as well as the acquisition of essential learning materials and technology, fostering successful learning experiences for all children.

Since its inception, FIRE has enriched the lives of 4,789 students through inclusive Catholic education practices, investing over $6.7 million in student success.
