Our Story

Fostering Acadia began with a shared mission between two passionate individuals, Jason and Rebekah, who dedicated their lives to improving the futures of young adults with experience in foster care. Their journey started with serving teens in foster care, which ignited a deep commitment to this vulnerable population. As foster parents and advocates, they recognized the pressing need for better support systems for youth transitioning to independent living in Virginia.

Our Impact

Fostering Acadia is proud to be the largest single-site independent living program in Virginia, licensed by the Department of Social Services. This unique position allows the organization to provide comprehensive support to youth aged 17 to 21, helping them navigate the challenges of aging out of the foster care system and empowering them to achieve their personal goals.
