Our Story

The Fort LeBoeuf Historical Society was founded by passionate volunteers dedicated to preserving the rich history of Waterford, Pennsylvania. When the historic Eagle Hotel, built in 1826, faced demolition, a committed group of locals pooled their resources to save this vital piece of architecture. This act of preservation sparked the formation of the Society, which now encompasses members who are deeply engaged in living history and those who appreciate the beauty of historical structures.

Our Impact

Through dedicated efforts, the Historical Society has successfully preserved significant landmarks, including the Eagle Hotel and the Judson House. The Society has created an educational campus that highlights the region's history, including its ties to George Washington and the French and Indian War.
