Our Story

In 1998, Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue initiated plans to replace aging fire stations, leading to the decommissioning of Historic Station 3. The community, including both active and retired firefighters, envisioned transforming this historic site into a fire museum and safety learning center. After signing a 50-year lease with the City in 2005, extensive renovations were undertaken to restore the station and create a museum that honors the legacy of Fort Lauderdale’s firefighters while educating the public on fire safety.

Impact

The Fort Lauderdale Fire and Safety Museum plays a crucial role in preserving the heritage of local firefighters, educating the public on fire safety, and showcasing significant historical fire service artifacts. This contributes to community awareness and education.
