Our Story

Foothills Humane Society began in 1957 as a volunteer-operated organization, evolving into a no-kill shelter in 2010. With a facility built in 1989 on 11 donated acres, FHS has become a cornerstone of animal welfare in Polk County, NC.

Impact

FHS has successfully facilitated over 4,400 adoptions and reunited more than 950 lost pets with their families, achieving a remarkable live-release rate of approximately 97%.
