About Foothills Caring Corps

Founded in 1999 by Gail Simmons and Father Steven Dart, Foothills Caring Corps began with a mission to provide essential services to older adults and individuals with disabilities in the Foothills community. Initially supported by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the organization has grown significantly over the years, expanding its services to include transportation, mobile meals, and social engagement programs. In 2009, it became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and has continued to adapt its offerings to meet community needs, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2024, Foothills Caring Corps launched the 'Year of the Neighbor' initiative to further enhance its impact on local residents.

Impact

Foothills Caring Corps has delivered over 19,000 mobile meals, provided nearly 4,000 non-emergency medical trips, and facilitated thousands of recreational and social visits, significantly enhancing the quality of life for older adults and individuals with disabilities in the community.
