Our Story

Founded in 2011 at the University of Maryland, Food Recovery Network emerged from a group of college students who recognized the stark contrast between food waste and hunger. Today, FRN unites over 8,000 students, food suppliers, and local businesses to recover surplus food and donate it to nonprofits that feed those in need.

Our Impact

With a commitment to reducing food waste and addressing hunger, FRN has successfully recovered 18.3 million pounds of food and donated 15.2 million meals, preventing 9,800 metric tons of CO2 emissions.
