Preventing Child Hunger

Our Story

Food For Hope began its journey in 2004 at ThornCreek Church, where a commitment to feeding the hungry sparked a larger vision. In 2014, Thornton Mayor Heidi Williams rallied community leaders to address hunger, leading Pastor Ruben Villarreal to pray for guidance. This divine inspiration birthed Food For Hope, a program dedicated to providing healthy food to children in need through local schools. With support from the City of Thornton, Adams County school districts, and compassionate individuals, Food For Hope became an independent 501(c)(3) organization in 2015.

Impacting Our Community

Since its inception, Food For Hope has tirelessly worked to secure nutritious food donations and financial sponsorships. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated food insecurity, with rates tripling among families in our community. By partnering with Adams 12 Five Star Schools, Westminster Public Schools, Adams 14, and 27J school districts, Food For Hope is committed to providing essential food assistance to families in need. Every dollar donated empowers a student who would otherwise suffer from hunger.
