Our Story

In 2009, a single cancer diagnosis changed everything for Mark. Witnessing his father's battle with Stage IV cancer, he recognized the profound emotional and financial toll it took on families. This experience ignited a passion to help others facing similar challenges. In 2010, Mark partnered with The LIVESTRONG Foundation to create a streamlined process for providing financial assistance for mental health services. The initiative, known as Dam That Cancer, raised over $32,000 through a 21-mile paddleboarding event on Lake Austin, uniting friends and supporters for a noble cause.

Our Impact

Since its inception, Flatwater Foundation has delivered over 72,000 therapy sessions, ensuring that individuals and families affected by cancer receive the mental health support they desperately need. With over $8.5 million covered in therapy costs, Flatwater has placed more than 3,000 individuals and families into care, making a significant difference in their lives.
