Founded in 1996 by Reverend Richard Reed, First To Serve emerged from a deep commitment to assist those struggling with addiction, homelessness, and mental health issues in South Los Angeles. With the guidance of Reverend Cecil “Chip” Murray, the organization opened a state-certified 15-bed substance abuse and transitional housing facility in 2002. Today, First To Serve continues to provide vital resources and supportive housing for hundreds of thousands in the homeless communities.
First To Serve actively partners with local, state, and federal resources to extend essential services to underserved communities, aiding homeless men, women, and children while promoting family reunification.
