Our Story

Founded in 1989 by dedicated educators and social workers, First Place was established to address the urgent needs of homeless children who were not attending school. Starting with just 20 students, First Place has grown into a vital educational resource, providing transitional schooling and support services to families in need. As the first authorized charter school in Washington State, First Place has set a precedent for educational excellence and compassion.

To date, First Place has educated and supported over 2,000 children and their families, fostering a nurturing environment where academic rigor meets creativity and fun.
