Providing Fresh Nutritious Food

Our Story

First Fruits Farm was established in 1998 by the Bernstein family in northern Baltimore County. The vision was to cultivate fields with the help of volunteers and donate the harvest to local organizations serving those in need. Supported by Hereford United Methodist Church until 2004, the farm became an official nonprofit, gaining tax-exempt status and forming a dedicated board of directors. In 2019, the farm expanded to a 203-acre property, and in 2023, an additional 78 acres were acquired, totaling 281 acres dedicated to feeding the hungry.

Our Impact

Since its inception, First Fruits Farm has harvested and distributed over 27 million pounds of fresh produce to food banks, shelters, schools, and churches across Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. In 2023 alone, 1.9 million pounds of healthy food were grown and distributed, thanks to the efforts of 17,300 volunteers from hundreds of organizations.
