About First Coast Opera

Founded in January 2000 by soprano Barbara Norris and Anthony Fast, First Coast Opera has become a cornerstone of the arts in Northeast Florida. Starting with a concert titled An Evening of Opera, the organization has grown to produce a variety of concerts and staged productions featuring local talent. After the founders' departure in 2008, the company continued to thrive under the leadership of dedicated board presidents and artistic directors, including Curtis Tucker, who joined in 2014.

As the only producing opera company in Northeast Florida, First Coast Opera plays a vital role in enhancing the cultural landscape of the region. The organization has received support from the Florida Department of Cultural Affairs, St. Johns County, and the National Endowment of the Arts, allowing it to expand its outreach and programming significantly.
