Our Story

The journey of Firm Foundation Ministries began with Matt Thomas, a former convict who transformed his life through faith and an aftercare program in Arizona. After relocating to Wichita in 2011, Matt recognized a pressing need for similar support in the Midwest. After two years of prayer and perseverance, the organization was established in March 2013, opening its first ministry house and welcoming its first program member. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Firm Foundation Ministries has formed vital partnerships, enabling exponential growth and outreach.

Impact

Firm Foundation Ministries is witnessing a revival at the Lansing Correctional Facility through the Freedom Initiative Church - West, led by incarcerated men. This year alone, over 100 men have found salvation, with 45 taking the step of baptism. Weekly discipleship classes engage more than 90 men, while 16 individuals are currently enrolled in the Freedom Initiative Program, equipping them with essential leadership skills.
