Our Story

For over a century, the San Diego Fire Relief Association has dedicated itself to the protection, care, and relief of the brave members of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. In 1990, the association established the Benevolent Fund to channel public support as the needs of firefighters and their families continued to grow. Initially named “The Widows, Orphans, and Distressed Firefighters Fund,” the organization later became known as “The San Diego Firefighters Benevolent Fund,” and ultimately, FirefighterAid.

Our Mission

FirefighterAid is committed to providing charitable assistance to firefighters and their families during times of need while promoting awareness of firefighter health and safety issues that impact their lives and communities.
