Our Story
In 2007, the McAveeney family opened their hearts and home to a precious baby in need of a temporary home. This experience revealed the harsh realities faced by vulnerable children couch-hopping, living in abandoned buildings, cars, garages, or under-funded foster care facilities. For 16 years, the McAveeneys' home has been a safe haven for homeless children and teens across the Chicagoland area.
Inspired by her family's compassion, Lilly McAveeney asked her mother, "Who's going to make kids without families feel loved like you make me feel on Valentine's Day?" This question sparked the creation of Fill A Heart 4 Kids (FAH4K). In 2008, FAH4K launched Project Valentine WeCare Packages™, igniting hope for children in group facilities by ensuring they feel loved and remembered on special occasions.
Since gaining 501(c)(3) status in 2015, FAH4K has expanded its mission to support over 2,400 foster and homeless children annually. The organization provides critical necessities, food, clothing, educational support, and life skills opportunities, all aimed at building brighter futures for kids.
