Our Story

In August 1994, Bob Phillips, the orchestra director at Saline High School, inspired a group of string musicians to form an extracurricular ensemble dedicated to learning and performing traditional American fiddle music. This initiative led to the creation of the Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic, a vibrant student-driven musical group that has flourished over the years. After a brief separation in 2004, the two youth fiddling groups reunited in 2014, continuing the legacy of preserving this rich musical heritage.

Impact

The Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic plays a crucial role in preserving American culture through music, song, and dance. By fostering an appreciation for traditional fiddle music, the organization enhances the social development and musical skills of its student members.
