Our Story

Fertile GroundWorks began in June 2010 with a vision to transform unused land into a source of nourishment for the hungry in Livermore. A dedicated group of volunteers partnered with Open Heart Kitchen, and by autumn 2010, the first crops were harvested. Since then, the organization has flourished, harvesting over 200,000 pounds of produce to share with neighbors in need.

Our Impact

In 2023 alone, Fertile GroundWorks educated over 1,400 volunteers in sustainable gardening techniques, fostering a community dedicated to food security.
