Our Story

Born from a small gathering at Ableton Studios, FEMME HOUSE emerged to tackle the alarming statistic that only 3% of music producers are women. This passionate group of 15 individuals recognized the need for change and began offering free workshops to teach the foundations of music production. As word spread, the community grew, transforming into a supportive network that empowers women and gender-expansive individuals in the music industry.

Over the past five years, FEMME HOUSE has innovated and expanded its programming, creating a safe space for learning and collaboration. Despite the challenges, the commitment to disrupt the status quo remains strong, as the statistic has unfortunately decreased to 2.5%. The mission continues: to diversify stages and lineups, and to provide equitable opportunities for all.

Impact

In 2022, FEMME HOUSE raised over $100,000 to fund scholarship programs, providing six fellows with free gear and specialized music instruction. The commitment to diversity is evident, with over half of the lineups featuring BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ representation.
