Founded in 1987 by Dan and Jacquie Shorter, Feeding The Hungry began as a small Christmas ministry at Belvedere Baptist Church, serving 40 families. Over the years, the initiative expanded significantly, now providing essential food assistance to thousands of families in need, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas. In 2018, food giveaways were relocated to the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches, continuing the mission to alleviate hunger.
Feeding The Hungry serves over 12,000 local families each week, delivering more than 24 million meals annually at an astonishing average cost of just 3 cents per meal. The organization also provides nutritious food to over 1,200 shut-in seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities, rescuing a significant portion of food from waste.
Every penny donated goes directly to buying, storing, transporting, and distributing nutritious food to hungry neighbors. With a volunteer-run model and low overhead, donations have a direct impact on feeding those in need.
