Founded by Chef Jacobsen Valentine, Feed the Mass emerged from a deep concern for food insecurity in Multnomah County. With a rich blend of Black and Hawaiian heritage, Jacobsen recognized the urgent need to address food waste and economic disparities. Guided by Christian values, the organization began in 2016 as an educational initiative, evolving into a vital resource for underserved communities.
Since its inception, Feed the Mass has served over 500,000 meals and rescued 700,000 pounds of food from waste. Partnering with 16 agencies, the organization plays a crucial role in alleviating food insecurity in Portland.
