Our Story

Feed A Hungry Child was born from the compassion of a small group of community members and an educator in Pickens County, South Carolina. Recognizing that many children in the local school system faced hunger over the weekends, the initiative began with a simple yet powerful idea: to provide food for those in need. With initial funding secured for 14 students, the program quickly expanded to serve children across 12 elementary schools. Today, Feed A Hungry Child supports elementary, middle, high school, and career center students, ensuring that no child goes hungry.

Our Impact

Currently, approximately 600 students benefit from our program, with plans to include another middle school in the upcoming school year. With an annual budget of $150,000, an impressive 96% of funds directly support feeding children, while only 4% covers essential overhead costs. Each month, $15,000 is allocated to provide nutritious meals from mid-August to early June, helping students arrive at school ready to learn.
