Our Story
Fat Cat Rescue, Inc. was founded in 2009 by Toots Larsen and her daughter Kaye, inspired by the rescue of a stray cat named Georgie Porgie. This pivotal moment ignited a passion for rescuing and advocating for homeless cats. Since becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2012, the organization has partnered with TNR (trap-neuter-return) programs to significantly reduce the feral and stray cat population in Lake County, Illinois.
