Our Story

More than 60 years ago, John and Fannie Hertz established the Hertz Foundation to help build a stronger nation. John Hertz, an immigrant who achieved success through hard work, sought a meaningful way to give back. In 1957, he announced the establishment of a scholarship fund for engineers, which evolved into the Hertz Fellowship program focusing on postgraduate fellowships for PhD students in applied sciences.
