Our Story
The Family Support Center is a dedicated nonprofit agency that has been serving families since 1977. Founded through a collaboration between the Junior League of Salt Lake City and the Utah Association for Children's Therapy, the organization began with the establishment of the Crisis Nursery in Sugar House. This initiative was a direct response to the urgent need for short-term crisis care for children at risk of abuse or neglect. Over the years, the Family Support Center has expanded its programs to address the evolving needs of the community.
Impact
In 2021, the Family Support Center made a significant impact by assisting over 450 families in Salt Lake County, supporting more than 850 children and parents annually. The Crisis Nurseries alone provided 3,800 visits to nearly 500 children, while the LifeStart Village program helped 60 families escape homelessness and abusive situations.
