Our Story
Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear was established in 1996 as an affiliate of the National Interfaith Hospitality Network. It began as a grassroots initiative by Karen Olson, who was inspired to help homeless families after a chance encounter. Over the years, the organization has expanded its services to prevent homelessness and support families in crisis.
Impact
In 2023, Family Promise of the Lower Cape Fear assisted over 10,000 individuals, achieving a remarkable 98% success rate in helping families secure housing. Every family receiving targeted case management has found a path to stability.
