Our Story

A simple act of compassion sparked a national movement to end family homelessness. Founded in 1986 by Karen Olson after a chance encounter with a homeless woman, Family Promise began by delivering lunches and has since evolved into a nationwide network. Family Promise of Spokane became the 49th affiliate in 1998, expanding its services to include emergency housing and homelessness prevention, significantly increasing its capacity to serve families in need.

Our Impact

Family Promise of Spokane aims to transform the lives of 1,000 families each year, with 95% of participants in their programs achieving stable housing. Annually, they impact 1,753 individuals, including children and parents, through various essential programs and services.
