Our Story

Family Promise of Bergen County, formerly known as the Interreligious Fellowship for the Homeless, has been dedicated to serving homeless families since 1986. Initially starting with the Overflow Shelter, the organization has evolved to provide comprehensive support, including a family shelter established in 1987. In 2010, it became Family Promise of Bergen County, joining a national network of over 200 affiliates committed to ending family homelessness.

Our Impact

Since its inception, Family Promise of Bergen County has provided shelter and support to thousands of families, serving over 1.1 million meals through its Walk-In Dinner Program. The organization focuses on keeping families together while helping them transition to stable housing and self-sufficiency.
