Our Story
Founded in 2004, Family Promise Athens emerged from the collective efforts of 25 congregations dedicated to sheltering families with children facing homelessness. Initially known as the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Athens, the organization provided rotational shelter for three families at a time through a network of over 30 congregations. In 2019, the name was changed to align with the national Family Promise network, reflecting a commitment to serving families in need. Over the years, Family Promise Athens has expanded its services to address the diverse needs of families in the Athens community, including those at risk of eviction.
