For over 40 years, Family Promise Montco PA has been a beacon of hope for vulnerable families facing poverty, homelessness, and hunger in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Founded by Lei Barry, who experienced homelessness herself, the organization began as a 24-hour emergency hotline connecting families to essential resources. Over the years, it has evolved into a comprehensive support system, providing emergency shelter, food, and vital services.

Our Journey

In 1989, the establishment of the Interfaith Hospitality Network marked a significant milestone, making it the first Pennsylvania affiliate and the fourth in the nation. The organization expanded further in 1995 with the creation of Hope Gardens, a long-term transitional housing program that offers families a safe space to rebuild their lives through intensive case management and life skills training.

In 2006, the Food Pantry in Abington became part of Family Promise Montco PA, serving families in need since 1970. In 2022, the organization adopted its current name to reflect its affiliation with Family Promise, enhancing its ability to serve families in need.

Making an Impact

In 2023 alone, Family Promise Montco PA provided a safe place to sleep and healthy food to 2,384 individuals, with 999 volunteers actively engaged in pantry and housing programs. Remarkably, 100% of families who completed the program found permanent homes, showcasing the effectiveness of the support provided.
