Our Story

Founded in 1987 in the North of Howard area of Chicago’s Rogers Park community, Family Matters began as a safe haven for children after school. What started as an educational support and recreational program has evolved into a vital neighborhood anchor, offering a variety of year-round, community-driven programs and activities.

Impact

Family Matters supports over 130 youth annually through daily programming, engaging an additional 650 individuals in classroom partnerships and community collaborations. With a college enrollment rate exceeding 90% for participants in Youth Development programs, many of whom are first-generation college students, the organization is making a significant impact.
