Family Literacy of Georgia is dedicated to improving communities of color by increasing access to quality books and literacy resources. Located in Clayton County, Georgia, this nonprofit organization has made significant strides in raising awareness about the importance of literacy and the availability of diverse reading materials. Through innovative initiatives like the Read in Color program, Family Literacy of Georgia has partnered with the Little Free Library organization to establish book-sharing stations, commonly known as little libraries, throughout the community.

By the end of 2022, Family Literacy of Georgia aims to place 20 book-sharing stations in neighborhoods across Clayton County. Since 2021, over 3,000 books have been distributed, impacting approximately 9,000 families. This initiative addresses the critical issue of book deserts, areas lacking access to quality books, which can hinder academic achievement.
