Family Literacy Center
EIN: 38-2642247 · Lapeer, MI
Our Story
The Family Literacy Center began in 1980 when the Imlay City Christian Reform Church recognized the need to assist refugees in learning English. This initiative evolved into a nonprofit organization known as the Volunteer Tutor Association, which later partnered with the Lapeer County Library and relocated to Lapeer. Over the years, the center has adapted its focus to support adults with low literacy levels and those eager to learn English, introducing various programs for both adults and children.
Impact
Through dedicated efforts, the Family Literacy Center has empowered countless individuals to achieve their GED and enhance their literacy skills, making a significant impact on the educational landscape of the community.
