Family Care Center

Our Story

The Family Care Center of Catawba Valley opened its doors in 1988, responding to the urgent needs of homeless families with children. Initially supported by local churches and the Hickory Soup Kitchen, the organization incorporated in 1993. Over the years, it has expanded from serving just six families annually to providing housing for approximately 70 families and over 100 children each year. This growth reflects a commitment to transforming unstable living conditions into safe, secure homes for families in need.

Since its inception, 90% of guests who complete the Family Care Center's programs successfully transition into permanent housing.
