Our Story
Families Rising, formerly known as the North American Council on Adoptable Children, was founded in 1974 by adoptive parents who sought a unified voice for families involved in adoption. Over the decades, the organization has evolved to support adoptive, foster, and kinship families, educate child welfare professionals, and advocate for children's rights. In 2023, Families Rising rebranded to reflect its commitment to amplifying voices with lived experience and becoming a BIPOC-led organization. Celebrating 50 years of service, Families Rising provides essential resources, training, and advocacy to improve the lives of children and families touched by the foster care system.

Families Rising has made a significant impact on child welfare by offering comprehensive resources, training, and advocacy for families.
