Founded in 1870 by The Sisters of the Community of St. Mary, St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children began as New York City’s first hospital dedicated to acutely ill children. Over the years, the organization has expanded its services, moving to a larger facility in Queens and introducing home care and specialized programs for children with complex medical needs.
