Everyone Home DC

Our Story

Everyone Home DC, formerly known as Capitol Hill Group Ministry (CHGM), was founded in 1967 as a grassroots initiative by several Capitol Hill churches. In response to the social upheaval of the 1960s, these congregations united to address the pressing challenges faced by their communities. Following the tragic assassination of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the organization intensified its efforts to advocate for racial and economic justice, while also providing essential social services.

Over the decades, Everyone Home DC has evolved from a clergy-led initiative to a robust nonprofit organization, focusing primarily on the needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness. With a commitment to holistic support, the organization has expanded its services to include family homelessness prevention, rapid rehousing, and permanent supportive housing.
