Our Story

In 1991, Virginia Frati witnessed a woodchuck suffering after being hit by a car, which ignited her passion for wildlife rehabilitation. After years of research and volunteer work, she founded the Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons in 1997, which evolved into the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center. Officially opened in 2000, this center serves as a sanctuary for injured wildlife and a hub for community education.

Impact

Since its inception, the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center has rescued and rehabilitated tens of thousands of animals, responding to over 10,000 calls annually for wildlife assistance. The center also provides vital educational programs to local schools, fostering a deeper understanding of wildlife conservation.
