Our Story

The Ethical Community Charter School opened its doors in September 2009, starting with just 120 kindergartners and first graders. Today, TECCS has grown to a vibrant K-8 school, educating nearly 400 children. Founded by dedicated Jersey City families and a team from New York, TECCS is inspired by the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, emphasizing ethics, service, and social justice. The school has forged strong community ties and collaborations, becoming a proud member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Project and the Ashoka Changemaker Schools network.

TECCS has successfully secured grants for various initiatives, including participation in Michelle Obama’s 'Let’s Move' Active Schools program, showcasing its commitment to high-quality, ethics-based education.
