Our Story
Founded in 1911 in Lakewood, New Jersey, The Ethel Walker School began with just 10 girls. By 1917, the school moved to its current location on the historic Phelps-Dodge estate in Simsbury, Connecticut. Ethel Walker, a Bryn Mawr graduate, envisioned a transformative educational experience for young women, emphasizing rigorous academic preparation and fostering lifelong learning. In 1991, the addition of a Middle School expanded this vision, ensuring that girls receive support during their formative years.
