Fostering Community Among Esperanto Speakers

Organizational Story

Established in 1952, the Esperanto League for North America, also known as Esperanto-USA, is dedicated to promoting the use of Esperanto across the United States. This international language, created by L. L. Zamenhof in 1887, aims to facilitate equitable communication among diverse linguistic communities. Over the years, Esperanto-USA has hosted numerous national conventions, known as Landa Kongresoj, which serve as vital gatherings for Esperanto speakers to connect, learn, and celebrate their shared cultural interests.

These conventions have been instrumental in sustaining the Esperanto movement in the U.S., providing a platform for advocacy, networking, and community-building. Collaborating with international Esperanto organizations, Esperanto-USA has significantly contributed to the visibility and growth of the Esperanto community in North America and beyond.

Impact Statement

Esperanto-USA supports Esperanto speakers and learners through educational initiatives, events, and resources, remaining a central hub for Esperanto activities in the United States.
