Our Story

ESCALA Initiative, founded in 2011 by entrepreneur-turned-archaeologist Larry Coben, began as the Sustainable Preservation Initiative. The organization is dedicated to saving endangered archaeological sites through poverty alleviation by providing business education to local artisans and entrepreneurs. Over the years, ESCALA has expanded its mission to empower disadvantaged entrepreneurs, particularly women, living in poverty around the world.

Our Impact

ESCALA has empowered over 3,000 women across countries like Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Guatemala, and Tanzania through its comprehensive business education programs. These initiatives have successfully helped marginalized entrepreneurs become self-sufficient, contributing to economic development and community resilience, especially during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic.
