Our Story

Erie’s Black Wall Street (EBWS) began as a simple conversation among college friends Angelica Spraggins, Kyra Taylor, and DaVona Pacley on January 17, 2018. What started as a Facebook group aimed at connecting the Black community in Erie quickly evolved into a powerful nonprofit organization. Recognizing the urgent need for change, the founders expanded their vision by bringing in Dr. Rhonda Matthews and Brian Atterbury. Together, they established EBWS to empower Erie’s Black community through meaningful relationships, education, and the promotion of Black entrepreneurship.

Our Impact

In just three years, EBWS has made a significant difference by providing $41,000 in down payment assistance to seven individuals, alongside free credit repair services and $45,000 in funding support for first-time home buyers.
